  4. Summary
  5. -------
  6. IDPalm allows you to modify the startup screen stored in the flash ROM of 
  7. your palm connected organizer.  This allows you to put your name, address, 
  8. email, phone number, or any other information in a very visible place on 
  9. the device.  Unlike other applications which store user information in the 
  10. RAM, IDPalm directly modifies the ROM image, making your changes 
  11. semi-permanent.  The registered version of IDPalm allows you to protect 
  12. the screen with a password, which will prevent other users from being able 
  13. to modify your device's screen.

  18. - Permits 3 lines of customized text, using two fonts, with or without
  19.   text inversion
  20. - Password protect your customized screen to prevent unauthorized 
  21.   tampering 
  22. - IDPalm is the only security application available for the palm which 
  23.   can't be easily defeated by removing the batteries or a hard reset.  
  24. - Works with most flash compatible devices (see below)
  25. - Distributed with SplashHack, which displays your ROM splash screen
  26.   each time the device is turned on

  28. Compatible devices
  29. ------------------
  30. IDPalm will work with most Flash ROM based devices.  Currently supported
  31. devices are:

  33.   OS 3.0 Palm III    English, German, French, Spanish
  34.                      IBM WorkPad English (Palm III equivalent)
  35.   OS 3.1 Palm IIIx/V English, German, French, Spanish
  36.   OS 3.2 Palm VII    English
  37.   OS 3.3 Palm III    English
  38.   OS 3.3 Palm IIIx/V English, German, French, Spanish, Italian

  40. IDPalm requires that your device have a compatible Flash chip in it.  The 
  41. Synapse pager cards are known to be incompatible.  If you receive a 
  42. message indicating that IDPalm couldn't find any recognizable splash 
  43. screen, then check the IDPalm web page to see if an update is
  44. forthcoming.  If not, then contact me with details about what kind
  45. of device you have, including the manufacturer, language, and OS version.

  47. Registration
  48. ------------
  49. The unregistered version of IDPalm permits modification of only one of the 
  50. three lines of text.  Further, the unregistered does not permit a password 
  51. to be used to protect the screen.  Any version of IDPalm (registered or 
  52. unregistered) can be used to reset any splash screen modifications that 
  53. have been made with an unregistered copy of IDPalm.

  55. The registration fee for IDPalm is $10 USD.  The registered version of 
  56. IDPalm has none of the above restrictions on it.  IDPalm can be registered
